This is my landlords sister-in-law Jhanjhroo. I asked her the meaning of her name, but she did not know, and infact seemed to suggest that it was a name given without much thought by her parents. She is seen here with her grandson Pranjal.

She is of the Gaddi caste, well-known to inhabit this part of the Himalayas. They have been shepherds for many many generations and are a wonderful, kind and very ethical people.jhanjhroo

  1. I smiled , when I read the name Jhanjharoo, my nani’s sis in law was named Jhabri devi , but names in those days really did not matter much as they do now 🙂
